When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dreamed. Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy (Psalm 126:1-2)
The pandemic follows us with strength not only in 2020 but also throughout 2021. Our closest fears related to this? That the viral strains continue to mutate and the spread with its deaths continues to be outside of what medicine can predict and act upon.
To reas texts like these has been fundamental in the Ecumenical Agency of Communication in Latin America and the Caribbean, not only to not lose the capacity to imagine something different but also to call forth in every individual or collective dream, current projects that prepare us for uncertain or impossible futures.
From ALC News with virtues and defects, we work dreaming, not in the way of those who meander in life, but with the certainty that to dream is always to create. It’s that future we create the one we bring to the present so our projects start to happen. This is what we invite you to, to dream to create, to bring this imagined and promising future to this present, collapsed of suffering and uncertainties that needs to be changed.
Your dreams and ours are more necessary than ever to bring hope to those who have lost, and even the capacity to create dreaming. To those who survive the day to day and need to bring to the present that kind and better future.
Like the Cuban troubadour Sulvio Rodriguez told us: “I invite you to believe me, when I say future”
Merry Christmas and best beginning for 2022!
It’s the wish of the Ecumenical Agency of Communication in Latin America and the Caribbean
