I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. (Ezekiel 36.26)
This year’s post-pandemic without a doubt taught us something very strongly. We need to keep persisting in the convictions we have, we need to keep believing and sustaining our hope against any negative prediction. It’s key to also rejuvenate our heart and spirit for the times to come, which is uncertain, conflictive, and has bad predictions, to understand that in our Latin America and Caribbean there’s a new time that follows this view and desire for change.
To accompany the continental reality of our faith based organizations, our civil society as well as academic and diaconic spaces has been fundamental not only for the good news themselves, but also because they bring the construction of other possible realities. And we do this from an ecumenic world that moves between the fully spiritual celebrations of our peoples and the daily fights of unions, community centers and many more organizations.
From ALC News we work with the conviction that even in the harshest and most dire realities that damage and generate marginalization and death in the region, they can be changed and transformed. A transformation that starts from our heart being able to suffer with those who suffer and cheer with those who cheer.
Let us keep looking for possible meeting points where your heart and ours amalgamate in concrete actions in favor of our Latin American and Caribbean peoples.
Merry Christmas and better start to 2023! It’s the wish of the Ecumenical Communication Agency from Latin America and the Caribbean
