Jimmy Benites Represents ACT Alliance in an event of humanitarian relevance

PERU-

In an event of humanitarian relevance, the Rev. Jimmy Benites, Pastor of the Methodist Church of Peru, was selected with honour to represent ACT Alliance in a workshop organised by CLAP in Tumbes, Peru. This meeting, focused on Human Mobility, the location and the Programs of Monetary Transfer, congregated leaders, humanitarian workers, governmental authorities and other key actors.

The workshop served as a crucial meeting place amidst the current uncertainty and challenges, providing clear opportunities to strengthen the commentary responses and to promote resiliency.  There were three highlighted central themes: the Opportunities and Challenges of the Monetary Exchange Programs, The Evaluation of Markets and the Analysis of Response. Furthermore there was a call to collective action where the local organisations could participate and lead in humanitarian processes.

The Rev. Benites expressed his gratitude for this transformative experience, highlighting that he not only broadened his knowledge, but also rekindled a new curiosity and compromise.

“I’m more motivated than ever to support our communities with all my heart and to explore new ways to respond, like with monetary transfers, in the emergencies that are coming,” he said.

As a representative of ACT Alliance, the Rev. Benites underlined the importance of interreligious collaboration and the collective compromise of the Churches and Faith Based Organisation (FBOs) members of ACT. “Together we have the power to transform the ‘normality’ and adopt new ways to work based on rights, love and compassion,” he emphasised.

The Regional Representative for Latin America and the Caribbean, Claudia Espinosa, praised the work of CALP in bringing these opportunities of learning and collaboration to the members of the ACT Alliance.

“We thank CALP for recognising the power and value of the work by Churches and FBOs members of ACT, providing them the opportunity to learn and bring their impact to a new level,” she said.

The Adjoint CALP Regional Representative, Diego Prado, also highlighted this initiative, emphasising the importance of continuing working together to guarantee the programs of Monetary Assistance being accessible to all interested:

“In a borderland setting like Tumbes, in Peru, with a magnitude of people in movement with many necessities, having the support of churches and faith-based organisations is vital as an example of local leadership and the establishment of trust between people and organisations, they’re all protagonists of humanitarian action and their interests in the PTM keeps them in the vanguard in situations of care with highly vulnerable people, simply sad thanks for being here and motivating yourselves to work with such diverse tools!”
