The choir Francisco Guedelha of the Independent Presbyterian Church of Brazil celebrates its centennial

Presbyterian and Reformed churches from all over the world, throughout its history have preserved sacred music through choral singing. Since 1916 the choir of the Independent Presbyterian church of the Evangelical Cathedral in the city of Botucatu, state of São Paulo-Brazil has participated in dominical liturgies when hymns that tell the story of the Reformed Protestantism are sung.

The choir sings in other churches as well as in many other solemn festivities of the city of Botucatu , such as  at theCity Council meetings of Rotary Club, at the Academy of Letters of the city, and in  choir events in several other regions of Brazil.

In 2003 the choir recorded a CD in celebration of the Centennial of the Independent Presbyterian Church of Brazil.

Since 1966, at the time of Advent , the choir has been singing serenades in the streets of the city.

As time went by, in honor of a beloved pastor who had been a worker of the church for 36 years, the choir was named Reverendo Francisco Guedelha.

Nowadays the choir is presided by Mr. Marcio Rangel da Silva and has been conducted by the Elder Mrs. Márcia Furrier GuedelhaBlasi , who has been its conductor for over 40 years.

The celebration of the centennial of the choir will take place on October 29thin the temple of the church with a festive worship service.

The guest preacher will be Reverend Assir Pereira , the current President of the Biblical Societ y of Brazil.
