The CREARTE Net Turns 19 Years of Service to Liturgy in Latin America and Further

It’s been almost two decades since a crowded group of people working in the area of liturgic renovation in Latin America created the RED CREARTE-CREARTE Net. It was a way of “making the activity independent,” since such was linked to the institutional changes of churches and ecumenic institutions. During all these years, the Net has been incorporating collaborators who gave the activity a dynamism greater that the original drive given by those who created the environment.

All the experience gained in years of work in the areas of training, production and socialization of ideas and resources gave rise to an original, independent and ecumenic project related to communities and organisations service base don faith in Latin America and further.

The Net is currently actively present in many Latin American countries, in the United States of America and collaborates closely with the WCC and other organisations that usually need their aid and participation in different projects of music and liturgic production and animation.

In addition to the training through workshops, webinars and symposiums, the Net has been sucessful in articulating innovative alternatives in collaboration with organisations, such as the latin leadership conecction gathering, which will take place in January 2024 in Colombia. This event will be jointly organised with the American and Canadian Hymn Society and is supported by the Reformed University of Barranquilla, Qonakuy, CREAS, and other organisations.

Their work in musical production is continuous, shared freely trhough various means (Youtube, Soundcloud, a page and a group in YT, Instagram and other music platforms, such as ITunes and Spotify, where we can be found as Red Crearte.) The most recent production is an album with songs from the presbiterian pastor Jorge Zijlstra Arduín and Horacio Vivares, which has just been released in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The album is called “I Wan to Sing with You- Songs that Sound Like Hope” (Quiero cantar con vos – Canciones que saben a esperanza.)

A new bilingual songs compendium (Paz en nuestra tierra – Peace on earth) recently published by  CUPSA, can be acquired in paper format at the publishing house or in PDF through the CREARTE Net. The goal of this compendium in particular is to offer an alternative to the bilingual latin communities, especially in the USA.

Facing the 20th anniversary in 2024 various activities are being prepared, which will be known in it’s due time, and are in line with the Net’s main goals: to train, to support the continuous liturgic and musical renovation, to advise and support the churches and organisations in their commemorative challenges, to enhance the continuous production of contextual resources and give them to society in an way accessible to the faith communities, they say.

From the CREARTE Net we thank God for his constant support in our path. And we trust that the Holy Spirit will keep supporting our work and providing the different human and material resources to continue our work path.
